Majority of the police now are using laser. It’s excellent that you invest in a radar but by the time the radar alerts you it is might be too late. If you’re a hardcore speeder, invest in a laser shifter also.

Now that I have a Valentine I realize how average the 9500ix did at detecting that along with crappy ramp up.

Those guys find some sneaky hiding places.

    claya91,

Just doing a small math, it looks like 14 seconds elapses from the initial radar alert at 0:11 and your passing LEO at 0:25. The speed limit was 35mph, high and mighty that velocity and time duration, that would place the initial alert somewhere nearly 720 feet?

    Does that sound accurate?

that cop was just running front radar
thecop has 2 radars front and back
i encounter a cop just with rear radar on and it alerded me then he turned on the front

a KA band is hardly never fake alert

  7. claya91 on December 12th, 2009 6:59 am

Possible? Yes. Realistic? No. If You are in the desert with no humidity on a perfectly straight highway, distances of 5-10 miles are not to no avail of but in 99% of situations 9 miles is impossible.

  8. normanmj on December 12th, 2009 7:15 am

    Impossible.

Check below comments. The hardwire kit and the add a circuit came to $45-$50

nice video!! hey. quick question for you. Where did you hard wire 9500ix? how much did it cost?

  11. claya91 on December 12th, 2009 8:13 am

That doesn’t really make sense. A *Ka* alert in a chic residential neighborhood blasting full alert is certainly a cop and I knew that was a common meeting place all ready

  12. Calsonic66 on December 12th, 2009 8:41 am

The Valentine One is fantastic but I would have thought it was a fake alert (cop position)

  13. MrBadfish2 on December 12th, 2009 8:57 am

Yep, Valentine 1 is #1.. I’ve detected KA from over 9 miles away..and it works fantastic on picking up signals like the one in this vid where the radar is “nearly a corner” …

I wouldn’t have flashed your lights though, That’s a fantastic way to get the cops’ attention

  14. claya91 on December 12th, 2009 9:38 am

Ahh sorry I misunderstood. Yes he was tagging cars from the rear. ;-)

  15. UnknownOconnor on December 12th, 2009 10:03 am

I know that, but he was conducting the rear radar trap on your side of the road from about 0.22 onwards. Most drivers would not be able to spot him in their rear view mirror until it was too late.

  16. claya91 on December 12th, 2009 10:39 am

Why wouldn’t an Escort provide rear protection?

No, really he wasn’t. Even as the video does a poor job of illustrating it. I am cresting a honestly steep hill heading into a small valley and the officer is meeting on an incline. Here is no way he could run rear radar and get the speed of cars on the other side of the hill because it cannot see the road in the rear it.

  17. UnknownOconnor on December 12th, 2009 10:56 am

Didn’t realize the escort protects you from rear radar traps?

The cop in that video was also conducting a rear speed trap on your side of the road.

awesome man thanks =] very helpful

I hardwired my RD. Basically it is fed power from the fuse box. It is really not very hard to do and I did it myself. You need an “add-a-circuit”, and a direct wire kit. Go under the Youtube channel “radarroy” and look for his most recent “how to direct wire a radar detector” video. Thanks!

  20. Zadok12321 on December 12th, 2009 12:35 pm

dude that thing is mounted perfectly no wire going across your car!

How did you do it? you install/shop?

  21. claya91 on December 12th, 2009 1:15 pm

No. You can’t beat it 99% of the time with just a detector. I learned that the hard way. I got a ticket with a RD on my windshield and it never even alerted. Laser is a narrow beam. Unless you have a Valentine you are lucky to even get a laser alert on shots under 600 or 700 feet.

  22. lentz29 on December 12th, 2009 2:09 pm

not realy if he shoots oyu a 2 time you are slowd down already if you can

  23. claya91 on December 12th, 2009 2:30 pm

Just run the V1. That’s all you need. The V1 performs best than the X50 and the GX65. Rear laser?? Why would you care about laser detection? Once an officer aims his gun at your car he buys your speed in about a second. You’re screwed. Laser detection without a jammer is pointless.

  24. lentz29 on December 12th, 2009 2:58 pm

if you run the radar detector this high on the windshild u will not get alert from rear laser beacuse rear eye of the radar it wont catch the rear dialogue box of the car so no rear laser detecion my opinion

  25. lentz29 on December 12th, 2009 3:05 pm

i running a escort passport 8500×50 and beltronics gx65 and a valenine one radar they all work perfect together
